Subject: Authorization Requirement for Inter-Sector Shifting (ISS) and Exit Requests under NPS

• New Rule: All ISS and exit requests must be authorized by the Source Nodal Office before submission to CRA.
• Who Is Affected: All government sector NPS subscribers — including those shifting between departments or exiting the scheme.
• Why It Matters: Without proper authorization, requests will be rejected, delaying pension transitions.
• Action Required: Employees must contact their original NPS nodal office for verification and approval before initiating any request.
• Departments: Must ensure timely processing and coordination with CRA to avoid subscriber inconvenience.

This circular strengthens oversight and ensures proper documentation during cessation of service or sector shifts. Government employees are advised to follow the updated SOP and consult their DDO or NPS coordinator.
