Reservation for PwDs in Various Recruitments – Odisha

The SSEPD Department, Government of Odisha has issued a clarification regarding reservation for Persons with Disabilities (PwDs) in various recruitments undertaken by different State Government Departments.
The issue has been examined with reference to Para 2(3) of Resolution No. 1843/SSEPD dated 25.02.2021, which mandates verification of disability certificates prior to appointment to prevent false or fraudulent claims.
It has been observed that in some recruitments, Departments allow certain categories of PwDs to apply and assess disability only at the pre-appointment stage, after completion of all examination stages. This may result in selection of PwD candidates for posts that are not identified for that particular category of disability.
This instruction aims to ensure compliance with disability reservation norms and to avoid complications at the stage of appointment.
