- Objective: With a view to preserving the linguistic and cultural identity of Odisha and restoring and standardizing the English spellings of administrative units in conformity with Odia phonetics.
- Scope of Correction: The existing English spellings of Districts, Sub-Divisions, Tahasils, Blocks and Urban Local Bodies specified in the Schedule shall stand corrected and substituted by the corresponding English spellings.
- Effective Date: The corrections shall take effect from the date of publication of this Notification in the Odisha Gazette.
- Name Unchanged: The corrections relate solely to English spellings of the concerned administrative units and shall not be construed as effecting any change in their actual names.
- Wide Coverage: Covers all 30 districts and numerous Sub-Divisions, Tahasils, Blocks and Urban Local Bodies across the State.
