Rule 73(1)
Licence Fee Liability
Where allotment is accepted, the liability for licence fee shall commence from the 61st day from the date of allotment OR from the date of physical occupation, whichever is earlier.
What This Means for Government Employees
- Shorter Acceptance Window: Allottees now have only 8 days (plus a 2-day reminder) to accept a housing allotment offer.
- Strict Penalty for Non-Acceptance: Failure to accept within 10 days leads to cancellation, a 3-month debarment, and one month's licence fee as penalty.
- Faster Possession Required: After receiving the authorisation letter, possession must be taken within 5 working days.
- Delayed Licence Fee: Licence fee liability now begins on the 61st day from allotment (or physical occupation, whichever is earlier), providing some relief compared to immediate liability.
- No Retrospective Effect: The rules are effective only from the date of Gazette publication.
