Selection Process
- Stage 1 – Online Examination: 140 objective type questions (200 marks). Sections: Reasoning & Computer Aptitude (30 Q, 60 marks), General/Economy/Banking Awareness (40 Q, 40 marks), Data Analysis & Interpretation (30 Q, 60 marks), English Knowledge (40 Q, 40 marks). Duration: 3 hours. Negative marking: 0.25 marks for each wrong answer.
- Stage 2 – Language Proficiency Test (LPT): Candidates who have not studied the specified local language in 10th or 12th standard will be required to appear for LPT. Candidates failing in LPT will not be considered further.
- Stage 3 – Personal Interview: 100 marks. Minimum qualifying marks: 50% for UR, 45% for Reserved.
- Final Selection: Weightage – Online Exam (80%) + Interview (20%). Minimum aggregate: 35% for UR, 30% for Reserved.

Key Highlights of the Notification
- Post & Vacancies: Indian Overseas Bank invites online applications for 250 Local Bank Officer (LBO) posts in JMGS-I (Junior Management Grade Scale-I).
- Eligibility – Age: 20 to 30 years as on 01.08.2026 (Relaxation: SC/ST – 5 years, OBC – 3 years, PWBD – 10 years, Ex-Servicemen – 5 years).
- Eligibility – Education: Graduation in any discipline from a recognized University with valid mark-sheet/degree certificate.
- Language Proficiency: Must be proficient (reading, writing, speaking) in the local language of the state applied for. Candidates who have not studied the language in 10th/12th will appear for LPT.
- Application Fee: ₹850 (Gen/EWS/OBC), ₹175 (SC/ST/PWBD – Intimation charges only). Non-refundable.
- Pay Scale: ₹48,480 – 85,920 (Scale I) plus DA, HRA, CCA etc. as per rules.
- Bond: Selected candidates will execute a Financial Service Indemnity Bond for ₹2,00,000 for minimum 3 years service.
- Probation: 2 years active service from the date of joining.

- Exam Centres: Online Examination will be conducted at various centres across India. List of centres available in Annexure-I of the notification.
Important Points to Note
- One State Only: Candidates can apply for only one state. Applying for multiple states will lead to rejection.
- Language Proficiency: Candidates shortlisted for Interview must qualify the Language Proficiency Test (if they haven't studied the local language in 10th/12th).
- Posting Restriction: Selected candidates will be posted within the selected state for the first 12 years of service or until promotion to SMGS-IV, whichever is earlier.
- Advance Increments: One advance increment for each prior completed year of service as Officer in Scheduled Commercial Banks (max 2 increments), subject to matching job profile.
- Reservation: PWBD reservation is on horizontal basis. Selected candidates will be placed in their appropriate category (SC/ST/OBC/EWS/UR).
- Negative Marking: 0.25 marks deducted for each wrong answer in the Online Examination.
- Compensatory Time: PWBD candidates are eligible for compensatory time as per Government guidelines.
- NOC Requirement: Candidates serving in Government/PSU must produce No Objection Certificate at the time of Interview.
- Canvassing: Canvassing in any form will be a disqualification.
