Eligibility Criteria
Educational Qualification
- Bachelor's Degree in Law (LLB) from a recognized University.
- 02 (two) years of experience as practising Advocate.
- Certificate from respective District Judge in prescribed format (Annexure-B) and Certificate of Enrolment under Bar Council of India/State Bar Council required.
Age Limit (as on 01.01.2026)
- Minimum: 21 years | Maximum: 42 years
- Born between: 2nd January 1984 and 1st January 2005 (both dates inclusive)
- Relaxation: SEBC/SC/ST/Women/Ex-Servicemen – 5 years, PwD – 10 years (cumulative 15 years for PwD+SC/ST/SEBC).
- Candidates under multiple categories will get only one benefit – the most beneficial.
Odia Language Requirement
- Must be able to speak, read & write Odia.
- Must have passed Middle School standard language test in Odia OR Matriculation (Class-X) with Odia as a subject.
Exam Pattern
Stage I: Preliminary Examination (Screening – 100 Marks)
Syllabus – Preliminary (Law)
- The Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973 and Bharatiya Nagarika Surakhya Sanhita, 2023
- The Indian Penal Code, 1860 and Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023
- The Indian Evidence Act, 1872 and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam, 2023
- Standard: LL.B Course under University examination
Stage II: Main Examination (Written – 600 Marks)
Stage III: Interview (50 Marks)
- Final Merit: Based on Main Written Examination (600 Marks) + Interview (50 Marks) = 650 Marks.
- Tie-breaker: Higher marks in Written Examination, then older candidate placed higher.
Important Instructions

- Odia Language: Must have passed Odia M.E. Standard or Matric with Odia.
- Experience Certificate: Must be from concerned District & Sessions Judge in prescribed format (Annexure-B).
- SEBC Certificate: Must be issued on or after 29.08.2023 (not more than 3 years old).
- PwD Certificate: Permanent Disability Certificate (40% or more) – Temporary disability not accepted.
- NOC: Government employees must submit NOC at Document Verification.
- Exam Centre: Kataka (venue details to be notified).
- Refund: Fee refunded only to candidates who appear in Prelims.
