Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

  • Junior Engineer (JE): 3 years Diploma in relevant Engineering discipline from a recognized University/Institute OR B.E./B.Tech in relevant discipline.
  • Depot Material Superintendent (DMS): 3 years Diploma in Engineering in any discipline.
  • Disciplines: Civil, Electrical, Mechanical, Electronics, Computer Science, etc. (refer Annexure A for complete list).
  • Candidates awaiting final results are NOT ELIGIBLE.

Age Limit (as on 01.01.2027)

  • Minimum: 18 years | Maximum: 33 years
  • Relaxation: SC/ST – 5 years, OBC-NCL – 3 years, PwBD – 10/13/15 years, Ex-Servicemen – 3/6/8 years (after service deduction), Railway Staff – up to 40/43/45 years, Widowed/Divorced Women – up to 35/38/40 years.

Medical Standards

  • A-3: Distance Vision 6/9, 6/9 with or without glasses (power ≤ 2D); Near Vision Sn 0.6, 0.6; must pass Colour Vision, Binocular Vision, Night Vision.
  • B-1: Distance Vision 6/9, 6/12 with or without glasses (power ≤ 4D); Near Vision Sn 0.6, 0.6.
  • C-1: Distance Vision 6/12, 6/18 with or without glasses; Near Vision Sn 0.6, 0.6.
  • Lasik surgery candidates are NOT ELIGIBLE for A-3 standard posts.

Selection Process

  • Stage I: CBT-I (Screening – Shortlisting 15 times the vacancies for CBT-II)
  • Stage II: CBT-II (Merit – 70% weightage for final selection)
  • Stage III: Document Verification (1:1 of vacancies)
  • Stage IV: Medical Examination

Important Instructions

  • Application Mode: Online only – via official RRB websites.
  • One RRB Only: Apply to only one RRB. Multiple applications will lead to rejection and debarment.
  • Create Account: Use existing account if created for previous CENs. Details in 'Create Account' cannot be changed.
  • Live Photo: Must be captured live during application (no pre-existing photo upload).
  • Signature: In running handwriting (not capital/block).
  • NOC: Serving employees must produce NOC at DV.
  • Free Travel: SC/ST candidates can avail free Sleeper Class travel pass by uploading valid caste certificate.
  • No change of exam centre permitted under any circumstances.
  • Banned items: Mobile phones, watches, calculators, etc. strictly prohibited inside exam hall.

PwBD & Scribe Guidelines

  • Eligible PwBD categories: VI (Blind/Low Vision), HI (Deaf/Hard of Hearing), LD (OA, OL, BL, BA, DW, CP, AAV, LC, MDy, SD, SI), MD.
  • Scribe Facility: Available for Blindness, Locomotor Disability (Both Arm affected), Cerebral Palsy, and other categories with certificate of limitation to write.
  • Scribe Registration: Scribe must be registered with RRBs at rrbapply.gov.in (OTR number required).
  • Compensatory Time: 20 minutes per hour for eligible candidates using scribe.
  • Less than 40% disability: Can also avail scribe with certificate of difficulty in writing.
  • Vision Certificate: Mandatory at CBAT stage – from Eye Specialist.
