Vacancies include reservations for SC/ST/OBC/EBC/EWS/BCL/Women/PwBD/Ex-Servicemen/Sports Persons as per Government of Bihar rules.

Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

• Primary Teacher (Class 1-5): 10+2 with 50% marks + D.El.Ed (2 years) / B.L.Ed (4 years) / D.Ed (Special Education) + CTET Paper-I / BTET Paper-I
• Middle School Teacher (Class 6-8): Graduate with 50% marks + B.Ed (1 year) / B.L.Ed (4 years) / B.A.Ed / B.Sc.Ed + CTET Paper-II / BTET Paper-II
• Secondary Teacher (Class 9-10): Graduate/Post Graduate in concerned subject with 50% marks + B.Ed + STET Paper-I
• Senior Secondary Teacher (Class 11-12): Post Graduate in concerned subject with 50% marks + B.Ed + STET Paper-II

Age Limit (as on 01.08.2026)

• Primary & Middle School: Minimum 18 years
• Secondary & Senior Secondary: Minimum 21 years
• Maximum Age (UR Male): 37 years
• Maximum Age (UR Female / BC / EBC): 40 years
• Maximum Age (SC/ST/Transgender): 42 years
• Relaxation: As per Government of Bihar rules

Teacher Eligibility Test (TET)

• For Class 1-5: CTET Paper-I / BTET Paper-I qualified
• For Class 6-8: CTET Paper-II / BTET Paper-II qualified
• For Class 9-10: STET Paper-I qualified
• For Class 11-12: STET Paper-II qualified

Exam Pattern

Stage I: Preliminary Examination (Qualifying – 150 Marks)

Stage II: Main Examination (Merit – 150 Marks)

Minimum 30% marks in Language (Part I) is mandatory. Negative marking of 1/3 mark applicable in Mains.

• One Time Registration (OTR): Mandatory at bpsconline.bihar.gov.in
• Attempt Limit: Maximum 5 attempts for TRE 4.0
• Certificate Date: All certificates (educational, experience, TET) must be issued on or before 30.09.2026
• Odisha Candidates: Can apply against UR vacancies only without any age/qualification relaxation
• District Preference: Maximum 38 district choices can be submitted online
• Guest Teachers: Up to 25 bonus marks (5 marks per year) subject to LPA decision
• NOC: Government servants must submit NOC from employer
• Posting: Within Bihar State as per merit and district preference

PwBD & Scribe Guidelines

• Reservation: 4% horizontal reservation for PwBD (Bihar residents only)
• Scribe Facility: Available for PwBD candidates with 40% or more disability
• Less than 40% disability: Scribe facility with certificate of limitation to write
• Compensatory Time: As per Government of Bihar rules
• Disability Certificate: Must be from Government Medical College/Hospital/Civil Surgeon
