Clarification on Authority to Grant Maternity Leave to Female Government Servants

As per Rule-194(a) of Odisha Service Code, maternity leave is granted by the authority empowered to grant ordinary leave. After enhancement of maternity leave from 90 days to 180 days vide F.D. O.M. No.51856/F dated 07.12.2011, clarifications were sought regarding competence to sanction the enhanced period.

Government hereby clarifies that the Head of Office is competent to grant maternity leave (as enhanced from time to time) to female Government servants under his/her administrative control.

This clarification is issued after careful consideration of various proposals received from different quarters.
