Examination Structure
Two Papers:
- Mental Ability Test (MAT): 90 multiple choice items (reasoning & critical thinking) – 90 minutes.
- Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT): 90 multiple choice items (Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics, History, Geography, Political Science, Economics) – 90 minutes.
No Syllabus: Questions based on Classes VII & VIII syllabus.
Qualifying Marks:
- General & SEBC: 40% in aggregate of both papers.
- SC, ST (Reserved): 32% in aggregate of both papers.
Tie-breaker: MAT marks -> Age.

Eligibility Criteria
Academic: Studying in Class VIII (2025-26) in Govt. / Aided / Local Body non-residential schools in Odisha.
Marks:
- General & SEBC: >= 55% in Class VII Annual.
- SC, ST: >= 50% in Class VII Annual.
Income: Parental annual income <= ₹3,50,000.
Not Eligible: JNV, Sainik, Residential Schools (ST/SC Dev.), KGBV.

How to Apply
Online: Fill at nmmds.odisha.gov.in or scertodisha.nic.in
- Print & submit with Caste & Income certificates to Headmaster.
- School verifies & forwards to DEO online.
- DEO validates, allots roll number.
- Admit Card downloadable from TE & SCERT portal.
Hard Copy Deadline: 29.09.2025 at DEO office.

- Caste Certificate (SC/ST/SEBC) – recent.
- Disability Certificate (UDID) – if applicable.
- Income Certificate – current year.
- NFSA/SFSS Document – if Income Certificate not available.
All documents to be submitted with the hard copy.
Renewal
Continuation of Scholarship
Amount: ₹1,000/month for 4 years (IX–XII).
Promotion: Must pass from VIII->IX, IX->X, XI->XII in first attempt.
Class X: Minimum 60% (relaxable by 5% for reserved).
NSP: Register on National Scholarship Portal every year.
Cancellation: If moves to privately managed school in Class IX.

Online filling of Application Forms is from 16.08.2025 to 16.09.2025. Hard copies must reach the District Education Office by 29.09.2025.
When is the NMMS examination scheduled?

The NMMS 2025-26 examination will be held on 07th December, 2025 (1st Sunday).
Is there any examination fee for NMMS?

No. Candidates are not required to pay any examination fee. However, they shall bear their own travel expenses to the Examination Centre.
