Odisha Government Bans Strike by Doctors & Medical Staff for Six Months

Whereas the State Government are satisfied that in the interest of the public, it is necessary to prohibit strikes in the form of cessation of work by Doctors, Nursing Officers, Pharmacy Officers, Paramedics, Technicians, Class-III and Class-IV employees, including contractual employees, engaged in services connected with maintenance of medical services.
This includes all Government Hospitals and Dispensaries such as District Headquarters Hospitals, Sub-Divisional Hospitals, Area Hospitals, CHCs, PHCs, Municipality Hospitals, Medical Colleges and Hospitals, Autonomous Health Institutions receiving grant-in-aid, AHRCC, Regional Spinal Injury Centre, Jail Hospitals and Police Hospitals, so that the health care delivery system in the State is not disrupted.

Now, therefore, in exercise of the powers conferred under Section 3(1) read with Section 2 of the Odisha Essential Services (Maintenance) Act, 1988, the State Government hereby prohibits strikes in the aforesaid services.
