Enhancement of Earned Leave Limit to 240 Days

OM No: 55423 Date: 14th November, 1986 Subject: Modification of Orissa Leave Rules, 1966

The Governor has been pleased to modify the provisions regarding the maximum limit of Earned Leave accumulation and encashment in light of recent decisions.


Key Modifications:

  • Accumulation Limit: Enhanced from 180 days to 240 days.
  • Encashment Limit: Enhanced from 180 days to 240 days for the following categories:
    • Retirement on attaining age of superannuation.
    • Voluntary/Premature retirement or retirement on invalidation.
    • Termination of service or re-employment.
    • Death of a Government servant while in service.
    • Leave preparatory to retirement.
    • Transfer of Govt servant to industrial establishment.
  • Resignation: Cash equivalent limited to half of leave at credit, subject to a maximum of 120 days.

Effective from 1st July, 1986.
