Key Provisions of the Notification
- Establishment of Courts: In pursuance of Section 14 of the Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989 (33 of 1989) and all other powers under the said Act enabling the State Government in this regard and on the recommendation of and in consultation with the High Court of Orissa, the State Government hereby establishes six number of Courts of Additional District and Sessions Judges as Exclusive Special Courts.
- Purpose: These courts are established for trial of the offences under the said Act within the local limits specified in the Schedule.
- Jurisdiction: Each court has jurisdiction over specific revenue districts or sub-divisions as detailed in the schedule.
- Presiding Officers: The Additional District and Sessions Judges mentioned in the notification are to be appointed as Presiding Officers of the Exclusive Special Courts.
- Gazette Publication: The notification is statutory and has been forwarded to the Director of Printing, Stationery and Publication, Odisha for publication in the extra-ordinary issue of Orissa Gazette.
- Issuing Authority: The notification has been issued by the Additional Chief Secretary to Government, Home Department, with further circulation by the Joint Secretary to Government.
