Important Provisos

Existing Limits: Where the existing upper age-limit for any post exceeds 41 years, such higher limit continues unchanged.
Statutory Bodies: Recruitment via West Ben. Act XIV of 1999 (other than PSCWB) has a uniform upper age limit of 45 years.
Effective Date: These rules are deemed to have come into force from 11th May, 2026.

Amendment Details

In exercise of the power conferred by the proviso to article 309 of the Constitution of India, the Governor has made the following amendments in the West Bengal Services (Raising of Age-limit) Rules, 1981:

New Sub-Rule (1) of Rule 2:

(a) The upper age-limit for recruitment to Group ‘A’ posts shall be raised to 41 years.
(b) The upper age-limit for recruitment to Group ‘B’ posts shall be raised to 44 years.
(c) The upper age-limit for recruitment to Group ‘C’ posts and Group ‘D’ posts shall be raised to 45 years.
