Key Directives of the Letter

  • Implementation Schedule: All Districts, Sub-Divisions, Tahasils, Blocks and Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) shall use new corrected names in office names, advertisements, exhibitions, etc., within one month from the date of Gazette notification.
  • Private Organisations: Businesses and other private organisations shall change their name plates accordingly within six months of the Gazette publication date.
  • Central Government Organisations: Central Government organisations shall implement the name changes after completion of their own process.
  • Local Language Usage: The new names shall be used in Odia as per the Gazette notification.
  • Communication to All: All concerned departments and authorities have been directed to ensure compliance within the stipulated timelines.

Within 1 Month
All Districts, Sub-Divisions, Tahasils, Blocks and Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) to use new corrected names in:
  • Office names
  • Advertisements
  • Exhibitions
  • All official communications
Private Organisations
Within 6 Months
All businesses and private organisations to change their name plates and all official references to the new corrected names as per the Gazette notification.
Central Government
After Own Process
Central Government organisations shall implement the name changes after completion of their own internal process and formalities.

All timelines are calculated from the date of publication of the Gazette notification.

  • Gazette Notification: The place name changes have been officially notified through the Odisha Gazette. The date of publication will be considered as the reference date for all compliance timelines.
