Vacancy Details

Vacancies are across SBP, WAT, KUR divisions and include reservations for SC/ST/OBC/PwBD. For complete RRB-wise & Zone-wise break-up, refer to the notification PDF.

Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification (as on closing date)

• Assistant Loco Pilot: Matric + ITI (NCVT/SCVT) in relevant trades OR 3 years Diploma in Mechanical/Electrical/Electronics/Automobile Engineering.
• Station Master / Goods Trains Manager: Degree from recognized University or its equivalent.
• Junior Engineer: 3 years Diploma in Civil/Mechanical/Electrical/Electronics Engineering or B.Sc. in Civil Engineering.
• Technician: Matric + ITI (NCVT/SCVT) in relevant trades.
• Junior Clerk cum Typist: 12th (+2 Stage) with 50% marks (relaxation for SC/ST/PwBD) + Typing proficiency on Computer.
• Commercial Clerk cum Ticket Collector: 12th (+2 Stage) with 50% marks (relaxation for SC/ST/PwBD).

Age Limit (as on 01.01.2027)

• UR: 18 to 42 Years
• OBC (NCL): 18 to 45 Years
• SC/ST: 18 to 47 Years
• Born between: UR – 02.01.1985 to 01.01.2009 | OBC – 02.01.1982 to 01.01.2009 | SC/ST – 02.01.1980 to 01.01.2009
• No age relaxation for SC/ST/OBC candidates applying against UR vacancies.

Eligible Candidates

• Regular employee/lien holder of East Coast Railway (including erstwhile Waltair Division/SCoR).
• Candidates who resigned or transferred to any other railway from East Coast Railway are NOT ELIGIBLE.

Exam Pattern

Stage I: Computer Based Test (CBT)

Negative marking: 1/3 mark deducted for each wrong answer.

Stage II: Aptitude Test / Typing Test (wherever applicable)

• ALP & Station Master: Computer Based Aptitude Test (CBAT) – Qualifying in nature (T-Score of 42 in each battery).
• ALP Merit: 50% CBT + 50% CBAT.
• Station Master Merit: 70% CBT + 30% CBAT.
• Junior Clerk cum Typist: Computer Based Typing Skill Test (CBST) – 30 WPM in English or 25 WPM in Hindi.
• CBAT Qualifying: Minimum T-Score 42 in each test battery (No relaxation for any category).

Shortlisting & Final Selection

• Shortlisting for CBAT/Typing Test: 8 times the vacancies.
• Candidates equal to number of vacancies called for Document Verification.
• Final selection subject to: CBT/CBAT merit, Document Verification & Medical Examination.

Important Instructions

• Eligibility: Only regular employees/lien holders of East Coast Railway can apply.
• NOC: Intimate controlling authority and upload signed application with NOC.
• One Application: Single online application even for multiple posts.
• Post Preference: Once opted, treated as final – no change allowed.
• Banned Items: Mobile phones, Bluetooth devices, calculators, watches etc. strictly prohibited inside exam hall.
• No EWS Reservation: No separate reservation for Economically Weaker Sections.
• OBC Certificate: Must be issued not older than one year at DV with Non-Creamy Layer clause.

PwBD & Scribe Guidelines

• Eligible PwBD categories: As per RPwD Act 2016 – Blindness, Locomotor Disability (BA), Cerebral Palsy, and others with physical limitation to write.
• Scribe Facility: Available for eligible candidates – must opt in online application and submit undertaking.
• Scribe Registration: Scribe must be registered with RRC portal (OTR number required).
• Compensatory Time: 20 minutes per hour for eligible candidates using scribe.
• Less than 40% disability: Can avail scribe with certificate of limitation to write (Annexure-G) and undertaking (Annexure-G(a)).
• Scribe Qualification: One step below the candidate's qualification.
• Vision Certificate: Required for ALP and Station Master at CBAT stage.

• Passport size colour photograph (not older than 3 months) – JPEG format, up to 100kb
• Scanned Signature – JPEG format, 10kb to 40kb
• Proof of Date of Birth (Matriculation/SSLC Certificate)
• Educational/Technical Qualification Certificates (ITI/Diploma/Degree)
• Caste Certificate (SC/ST/OBC-NCL) in prescribed format
• Disability Certificate (PwBD) – 40% or higher
• Supervisor's Certification (mandatory upload in PDF)
• IPAS ID, HRMS ID & Date of Birth (for call letter download)
