Subject Heatwave Preparedness

To: All DEOs, Collectors, BMC Commissioner, All EROs.

Subject: Advisory on Heat wave Preparedness & Mitigation during Special Intensive Revision (SIR) 2026.

In view of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) 2026 scheduled from May to September 2026, and the anticipated severe heat wave conditions, the Chief Electoral Officer has issued an advisory for the safety of field functionaries and electors.

⚠️ Key Directives & Safety Measures

  • Regulation of Field Activities: Field visits and outdoor activities shall be avoided during peak heat hours (12:00 PM to 3:00 PM).
  • Preferred Working Hours:
    • Morning Session: 6:00 AM to 11:00 AM
    • Evening Session: 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM
  • Mandatory Field Kit: Every field official must carry:
    • Drinking water bottle.
    • ORS sachets / Electrolyte packets.
    • Cap / Umbrella.
    • Mobile phone for emergency communication.
  • Facilities at Camps: All Facilitation Centres must have adequate shaded waiting areas, safe drinking water, and proper ventilation. Priority assistance for senior citizens, PwDs, and pregnant women.
  • Emergency Response: Immediate shifting to a cool/shaded area, administration of water/ORS, and medical assistance in case of heat illness symptoms (dizziness, nausea, fatigue).
  • DEO/ERO Responsibility: Coordinate with Health Dept, monitor weather advisories, and reschedule activities if severe alerts are issued.
