Subject: Prohibition of strikes in establishments connected with the generation, transmission, and distribution of electricity in the interest of the public.

⛔ Key Provisions of the Order

  • Total Prohibition: Strikes are strictly prohibited in all establishments of GRIDCO, OPTCL, OHPC, OPGC and all DISCOMs (TPCODL, TPNODL, TPSODL, TPWODL).
  • Public Interest: The order is issued to maintain industrial peace and ensure the optimization of power generation, transmission, and distribution across the State.
  • Legal Basis: Issued in exercise of powers conferred under Section-3(1) read with Section-2 of the Odisha Essential Services (Maintenance) Act, 1988.
  • Definition of Strike: The order defines strike as cessation of work, concerted refusal, or unauthorized absence from duty by a body of persons employed in essential services.
  • Validity: The order shall remain in force for a period of six months from the date of issue.

Note: This measure is necessary to avoid any disruption in the power supply which is critical for the state's infrastructure and public welfare.
