Odisha Govt Cancels Leave of Officials in Seven Districts Amid Cyclone Montha Alert

Cyclone Montha

In view of the potential impact of the approaching Cyclone Montha, the Odisha government has cancelled the leave of all government employees in seven districts to ensure administrative preparedness and effective disaster response.

The order applies to all government personnel posted in Koraput, Malkangiri, Gajapati, Ganjam, Kalahandi, Balasore, and Kendrapara districts. In Balasore, the District Collector has cancelled all holidays until the situation stabilises, while in Ganjam, officials have been directed to remain at their respective headquarters between October 25 and 30.

The move aims to ensure that adequate manpower is available for relief and rescue operations in case of any emergency arising from the cyclone’s impact. A red warning has been issued for Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Gajapati, and Ganjam districts on October 28, where extremely heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely. An orange alert has been issued for Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nayagarh, Khordha, and Puri districts for heavy to very heavy rainfall.

On October 29, Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, and Rayagada will continue to remain under the red warning category, while Gajapati, Ganjam, Kandhamal, Boudh, Nuapada, and Balangir are placed under the orange alert for intense rainfall activity.
