Government of Odisha has approved the “Atal Bus Stand (ABS)” Scheme for Construction, Renovation, Development, Operation, Maintenance & Management of Bus Stands across the State with a total financial implication of ₹3,400 Crore.
Key Highlights of Atal Bus Stand Scheme
1. Scheme Name
All bus stands will be officially named “Atal Bus Stand (ABS)”.
2. Coverage
District HQs, Sub-Divisional HQs, Block HQs, ULBs, Tourist places & other important locations.
3. Categories
Bus stands categorized into A, B & C class as per requirement.
4. Implementing Agencies
OSPHW&C, Works Dept, RD Dept, ULBs, Block Offices or State PSUs like OBCC.
5. Financial Outlay
₹3,400 Crore (Development ₹2,630 Cr + O&M ₹770 Cr) up to FY 2031-32.
6. Revenue
All revenues retained by OSRTC as non-operational income.
7. Public Transport Status
All ABS notified as Public Transport Infrastructure for use by Govt & Private operators.
8. SoP
C&T Department will issue detailed Standard Operating Procedures for operation, maintenance & management.
Cabinet Approval: The scheme has been approved by the Cabinet with provisions for unified development, monetization, and long-term sustainability of bus stands across Odisha.
