Eligibility Criteria

Admission to B.Ed Special Education (Visual Impairment) course requires:

  • Educational Qualification: B.A. / B.Sc. / B.Com. from a recognized University with at least 50% marks in aggregate.
  • Relaxation: 5% relaxation in marks for SC/ST/PwD candidates on production of E-Certificate/UDID Certificate with permanent benchmark disability, subject to verification by Medical Assessment Board.
  • Migration: Candidates from other Universities must submit Equivalence and Migration Certificates as required by Utkal University.
  • Medical Fitness: A Medical Fitness Certificate must be submitted at the time of admission.

Fee Structure

B.Ed Course: Rs. 45,000/- per year
Hostel: Rs. 7,000/- p.a. (Both Boys & Girls)

What is the duration of the B.Ed Special Education course?
The B.Ed Special Education (Visual Impairment) course is a 2-year program comprising four semesters, which can be completed in a maximum of three years from the date of admission.
Is the course recognized by RCI?
Yes, SISER is recognized by the Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI) and has been declared as a Centre of Excellence in Odisha. It is also affiliated to Utkal University, Bhubaneswar.
What is the minimum qualification required for admission?
Candidates must have passed B.A./B.Sc./B.Com. from a recognized University with at least 50% marks in aggregate. SC/ST/PwD candidates get 5% relaxation (45% marks required).
Are there hostel facilities available?
Yes, separate hostels for boys and girls are available with CCTV and biometric systems. Hostel fee is Rs. 7,000/- per annum with a refundable security deposit of Rs. 2,000/-.
What is the selection criteria for admission?
Admissions are granted on the basis of merit as decided by a High Level Admission Committee. If required, a written Entrance Test followed by viva voce will be conducted. The decision of the High Level Committee will be final.
Is there any fee exemption for reserved category students?
Yes, no course fee is charged for SC, ST & PwD candidates. However, only Examination Fee is to be paid at the time of filling the Examination Form. They can also apply for Post-Matric Scholarship.
