The Finance Department, Government of Odisha has issued an Office Memorandum regarding the exercise of option for availing the benefits of family pension upon in-service death in respect of State Government employees covered under the National Pension System (NPS).
Earlier procedural guidelines were prescribed vide Finance Department OM No. 12587/F dated 19.05.2022, allowing eligible employees one year to exercise their option in Form-I. The timeline was subsequently extended up to 19.05.2024.
However, based on representations received from various Government offices, it was observed that several employees could not exercise their option within the prescribed period.
